Stuart Pawson

Stuart Pawson writes from across the pond in Fairburn, Yorkshire, England, and he writes police thrillers.  Pawson’s protagonist, Charlie Priest, works as a Detective Inspector, DI, for the Heckley CID or police department.  Pawson uses an English publisher, Allison & Busby, and his books are culturally distinct.  I thoroughly enjoy reading his books, but sometimes it takes me a second to discern what his protagonist is trying to tell me. If you pick up one of his books, and I hope you do, take a close look at it.   The entire production differs from our American published books.

Pawson worked as a mining engineer and then in the probation service prior to his career as a writer.   He enjoys hiking the moors, and incorporates that into his stories.  Charlie Priest also enjoys tramping or running across the moors.  Pawson is married. He has no children, cats or dogs, but he does have turtles.   He belongs to the Murder Squad and the Crime Writer’s Association.  The Murder Squad consists of seven crime mystery writers based in North England.
