The Florida Book Awards started in 2006. The awards honor writers that live in Florida, and writers of Nonfiction books about Florida. The Florida Book Awards have seven catagories: 1. General Fiction, 2. Young Adult Literature, 3. Children's Literature, 4. Florida Nonfiction, 5. Poetry, 6. Popular Fiction, and 7. Spanish Language Book. This site will list only three categories - General Fiction, Popular Fiction, and Florida Nonfiction. To obtain a full list of the awards visit the Florida Book Awards website.

General Fiction - must be written by a Florida author with a Minimum 40,000 words, and can include short story collections.
